GRÜN IT Club: Digitalization also for seniors

Aachen-based GRÜN Group is establishing an IT club for the experienced generation. Membership fees provide access to a hotline, home and repair services, training courses, and club meetings on PC, tablet, and smartphone use. After a six-figure investment, the company aims to break even and combine sustainability with profitability.

The target audience is primarily the experienced generation who want to bridge the gap to the digital world. Club members receive a wide range of services and support in the area of ​​everyday assistance, from a hotline to home support and repair services. Individual and group training sessions are also offered, as are club meetings for networking.

Members of the GRÜN IT Club pay a monthly fee which includes all services. The club is operated by the GRÜN aixtema GmbH, which operates a service center for the IT sector in Aachen with 70 employees on 6.000 square meters and thus offers all the prerequisites for fulfilling the services.

Markus Hahmann von der Linnepe is the managing director of the GRÜN IT Club and is looking forward to the challenge: "This is a great project. We want to improve digital participation, primarily for the older generation. We see ourselves as a personal IT service for our club members, answering all questions about PCs, notebooks, tablets, and mobile phones. There are no costs involved every time; instead, the contributions of all members should collectively cover the costs in the medium term." Oliver Rossbruch, Managing Director of GRÜN aixtema GmbH added, "Over the past few months, we have set up a complete service point for the GRÜN IT Club on our premises at Philipsstraße 8 and prepared all processes so that we can offer our members first-class support."

The idea of ​​the GRÜN IT Club fits perfectly into the strategy of the parent company GRÜN IT Group GmbH to combine sustainability and information technology: "We couldn't implement our mission 'Digitalization for All' any better. We support education, lifelong learning, digital access, the longer use of devices, and community," explains Dr. Oliver Grün, CEO of GRÜN IT Group GmbH. Citing the company's six-figure investment in the development and initial losses of the GRÜN IT Club, Grün adds, "Of course, we have to break even with this startup idea of ​​a club at some point so that we can operate it long-term. And if it works really well, we also want to generate revenue with this business idea, because we are not a non-profit organization. Our corporate goals are sustainability and profitability, and the market will decide whether we can combine these two goals in the GRÜN IT Club."
